NELL ROBINSON & JIM NUNNALY

October 27 - October 27, 2012

TIME: 7:30PM

TICKETS:  $20

RESERVATIONS: CALL  659-7500
Magic Circle Theatre welcomes back the bluegrass duo of Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally.  Singer-songwriter Nell Robinson has been named one of the most “utterly charming,” freshest voices” in roots music, and likened to early Emmylou Harris.  Nell has  had extraordinary success, appearing on Garrison Kellor’s A Prairie Home Companion, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Strawberry Music Festival,  and
Kate Wolf Music Festival.

With Jim Nunally, they were featured at the Kennedy Center, Washington DC,
and venues in  North Carolina last fall.

Nell and Jim are a harmony-driven duo, reminiscent of classic country duets like George Jones and Tammy Wynette.  Alongside their own original material, Nell and Jim cover music ranging from Bill Monroe to Nine Inch Nails.

There is a timelessness and deftness to Nell’s original song-writing style.  Her vocal skills range from haunting and melodic to soulful and spare.

Jim Nunally is a world-class guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, and has toured extensively with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience and John Reischman.  He is the recipient of two Grammy Award certificates and two IBMA awards.  He is also a two time Western Open Masterpicking Champion and Guitar Champion.

Nell and Jim are working on a duo album due out in 2012.

“…(Nell’s album Loango) utterly won me over, charmed me silly!” Sing Out!@ (MT)

“Robinson’s sweet voice and the lighthearted settings of  (her album) On The Brooklyn Road make for a thoroughly enjoyable journey through a timeless, sepia-toned world at the intersection of bluegrass, country, folk, and Americana.  Highly recommended.” Cover Lay Down (Joshua Farber).
